I'm slowly accepting that it's been 20 years. Could it be 20 years since Ms. Murphy called me a "rebel"? I left Texas in 1998 for grad school at Penn State and I'm now living in New Jersey, close to New York, working in publishing. Over the years I've tried to explain how different our high school was to non-Lubbock people that I've met. It's not easy to describe, but I know that I was lucky to go there.
